Board check. Ambient rig for a duo gig next month. Tuner → Klon → Volante → Big Sky → expression pedal. I've been told the chain order is wrong but I don't know what's wrong about it. Be honest.
The JHS Colour Box is the most useful pedal on my board, and it isn't even close. Every other pedal I own has a clear job. The Colour Box has all the jobs — EQ, boost, preamp, DI, fuzz on a bad day. It's the multi-tool I reach for when I don't know what I want.
Question for the board: what's the cheapest pedal you'd never replace? Mine is a Behringer DD400 from 2009. It's been on every board I've built. I've owned the Boss DD-7, the Strymon Timeline, the Boomerang. None of them stuck. The DD400 just…
NPD: the Walrus ARP-87 finally landed. Been eyeing this one for months. First impressions after an hour — the lo-fi mode alone is worth the price of entry. Sounds way bigger than a $179 delay has any right to.
The Strymon Volante is the most overrated tape pedal of the last decade. I've owned three. Thirty hours with the latest firmware. It's a perfectly fine machine that does a perfectly fine job. It's also a $400 box that the El Capistan does better for less, and the JAM Delay Llama Mk3 does…
The Boss MD-200 is the best Boss pedal nobody talks about. Three years on, the modulation section still beats every multi-mod under $300. One thing per knob, no menu diving, no presets unless you want them. Twelve modes, four knobs, a tap tempo that actually feels like one —…
